When the PROFILER™ was introduced in 1996, it created a new market for real-time beam analyzers with PC interfaces. The PROFILER can accomplish many of the TG-40 daily, monthly and annual tests more efficiently than any alternative technique. The PROFILER™ has established itself as a gold standard in the QA market due to the fact that it is easier to use, and provides more data at a lower price than competing products. PROFILER™ applications are as specific or diverse as the user chooses. Routine QA issues, such as those found in TG-40, are quickly addressed with the PROFILER's 46 channel real-time linear array

Physical Description
The PROFILER™ is a linear array of 48 radiation hardened diode detectors. The detectors are spaced at every 5 mm, and are suitable for both Photon and Electron energies. Beam size at 100SSD is 20cm x 20cm.

The PROFILER™ diode array is imbedded beneath 1 cm of intrinsic H2O equivalent buildup. The entire product weighs only 8.5 pounds, and is used directly on the treatment couch, or in the available gantry attachment.

Applications
PROFILER™ applications range from Dynamic or Virtual Wedge commissioning and Tissue Compensator QA, all the way to Monthly Flatness checks and beam troubleshooting.

  • TG-40 QA (Flatness, Penumbra, Area Symmetry, Mirror Symmetry, Light/Radiation Field Coincidence, Field Size, Beam Center)

  • IMRT QA (Snap-Line Utility compares Profile measurement to treatment plan output, H & D curve calculation for RIT 113 when used with Gantry Phantom)

  • Beam Troubleshooting & Beam Steering Adjustments

  • VW & EDW QA

  • Tissue Compensator QA
     

PC Communication
The PROFILER™ communicates with a host computer via a single 25 M cable. The host computer is the comprehensive interface and storage device for the PROFILER™, which supports Windows 95 and higher, as well as Windows NT.
 

Real-Time Analysis
PROFILER™ data is viewed on the PC screen in real time, and can be viewed in either dose or rate mode. Profiles just taken can be easily compared against earlier profiles with the click of a mouse. Automatic analysis routines provide a wealth of data viewable in real time as the beam is on.

Data Storage
Virtually unlimited Beam profiles can be saved for later analysis and/or comparison.

Accuracy
The PROFILER™ uses pre-irradiated p-type diode detectors that offer exceptional long-term stability. For 6MV beams, diode sensitivity will change less than 2% over 100,000 MU.

The Profiler is available with many useful accessories that will enhance it's functionality.

Examples of Use

 

  • Previously stored reference images may be compared to the currently measured profile in a matter of  minutes.

  • Stored profiles may be retrieved and compared to either another stored profile or a real time image.

  • A reference profile can be obtained at zero gantry angle and compared, in real time, with the beam image as the gantry is rotated

  • Dynamic and virtual wedge routines can be viewed in real time. The shape of the wedge can be viewed, stored and compared.
