HDR Prostate Template

The unique design of the HDR Contour Template allows customers own needles ( as supplied with your HDR afterloader ) or FlexiGuide Needles

( which are available from SeeDOS Ltd ) to be locked simultaneously while the template's sloped backing comfortably fits the patient's perineum, This feature eliminates the void between the template and the perineum while accessibility for needle adjustments is maintained. Suturing, therefore, will not compromise needle and template positions.

FlexiGuides and Pathfinders : The HDR set up includes FlexiGuide Pathfinders which are initially used to establish the needle path for FlexiGuide Needles guided by ultrasound.

Once the Pathfinder is inserted and in the optimal position, the Pathfinder is removed and immediately substituted with the FlexiGuide Needle which represents the conduit through which the radiation source will eventually be delivered. the advantage of this system is that FlexiGuide Needles remaining in the patient for the duration of the implant causes less trauma to the gland and reduced swelling. This, in turn, potentially reduces the risk for acute urinary retention in these patients after the procedure.

Available in full-matrix ( large ) or miniaturized ( small ) format. HDR Prostate templates are manufactured to accommodate a variety of needle sizes and are compatible with various Ultrasound Stabilization and Stepping devices. If stainless steel needles are used it may be necessary, for extra security of fixation, to use needle collets which can be provided with the template. A collet fixation tool is provided.

Stylets are inserted to prevent Flexiguide needles from kinking and from entry of undesired fluids or solid matter.

The Protective Cone protects the needles from accidental displacement and unexpected impacts between HDR treatments

Recommended Instructions for use of Small and Large Matrix Templates and Protective Cones:

Mount the HDR Contour TP Template onto the Ultrasound S1epping Unit, securing It with the two lateral lock knobs.
Slide the template forward, flush against the Perineum
Establish the needle path by insertion of the Pathfinder
Implant Flexi-Guide Needles as prescribed by the physician.
Upon completion of needle placement, secure all needles simultaneously by means of turning the centrally located knurled knob of the HDR Prostate Template clockwise.
Ascertain that each Flexi-Guide is held captive (gentle pull test).
Suture the HDR Prostate Template to the Perineum.
Disjoin 1he HDR Contour Template From stepping unit.
Slide the Protector Cone over the protruding Flexi•Guide Needles.
Dock the Protector Cone with the HDR Template by means at the two "lateral" knurled knobs located on top of the HDR template.

After completion of Needle insertion, the Protective Cone should be attached to prevent FlexiGuide Needles from kinking or displacement.

Don't let the implanted FlexiGuide Needles become displaced by interference with the bed's mattress.

Features:

The Leg Support not only improves patient comfort, it prevents the HDR template and its protruding needles from colliding with the bed's mattress.
Keeping the patient's legs slightly elevated lessens the steep downsloping angle of the template which in turn, lifts the needles off the mattress,
The Leg Support is constructed such that needles are accessible from all sides and through the centre for ease of connecting the source-guide tubes to the FlexiGuide needles.

After completion of the implant, the patient is positioned comfortably on the Leg Support, The Leg Support is cushioned with a 1 nch thick washable foam pad and a 1cm thick custom-made Gel Pad.

The patient's legs are elevated and the FlexiGuide Needles are safely kept aloft.

By means of space provided all around the template, it is easy to connect or disconnect the source-guide tubes from the FlexiGuides.

The HDR Contour Template rests neatly in an elevated position while the FlexiGuide Needles and inserted obturators clear the sides, the bottom and the front of the Leg Rest.
