HDR/IORT HAM Applicators

SeeDOS Ltd - HDR HAM Brochure (pdf )

Delivery of IORT / HDR for Advanced Tumors
Via Remote Afterloading

HDR MultiSource, VariSource®, GammaMed® and microSelectron®

H.A.M. Applicator

The H.A.M. Applicator Facilitates Delivery of HDR lntraoperative Radiation Therapy
(HDR-IORT) for Superfcial and Advanced Tumors Via Remote Afterloading.
Primary Tratment Sites:
Advanced or Recurrent Colorectal Cancer, Advenced tumors of the Pelvis or Retroperitoneum, Chest Wall Sarcomas and Superficial Tumors.
The H.A.M. APPLICATOR consists of a flexible pad of Silicone Rubber that is 8mm thick. An array of catheters are embedded parallel to each other spaced 10 mm apart while a consistent source-to-tissue distance of 5 mm is maintained. Because of its flexibility, the H.A.M Applicator easily conforms to the shape of surfaces to which is applied.

H.A.M Applicators are manufactured to be compatible with today's remote afterloading systems and the applicators can be "tailor made" to provide optimal treatment area coverage.

Traditional source-guide tubes are no longer required. The embedded catheters are 130cm long and connect directly to the clamping adaptors (quick connectors) of the indexer.

Shown is a 12 channel H.A.M. Applicator placed in the tumor bed. Attached are 4 source transfer tubes providing connection between the applicator and afterloading unit. A universal bracket is used to relieve stress on the on the embedded applicator.

A 12 Channel H.A.M. Applicator is shown in final position prior to HDR tratment of an advanced Pelvic Tumor. The H.A.M Applicator is attached to an HDR remote afterloader.
A 12 Channel H.A.M. Applicator is shown sutured in place prior to HDR treatment of a Chest Wall Sarcoma. The H.A.M Applicator is attached to an HDR remote afterloader.

H.A.M. Applicators can be custom made to sizes and shapes tailored to anatomical treatment sites. Custom made H.A.M. applicators can be fabricated for use with HDR Varisource®, microSelectron® and GammaMed® remote afterloading systems.
H.A.M. Applicator
Standard H.A.M. Applicators are 0.8 cm thick and 22 cm long. Embedded catheters are parallel and spaced 10 mm apart while center of source to tumor distance is 5 mm ascertaining uniform dose distribution.

24 Channel H.A.M. Applicator

"Direct connection - Applicator to Aftreloader"
Shown is a 24 channel H.A.M. Applicator with permanently embedded catheters; 130cm long. All channels are numbered for easy of identification and attachment to the appropriate channel on the afterloader's indexer.
Connecting Guide-Tube Support Bracket
Catalog #9102-UFA
The Connecting Guide-Tube Support Bracket serves as a stress relief on the embedded or sutured H.A.M. Applicator. Two parallel bars cushioned with soft rubber maintain the location and position of the Connecting Guide-Tube during HDR treatment. The two adjustable parallel bars are mounted to a shaft which attaches directly to the Martin Universal Clamp.

H.A.M. Applicators with permanently embedded catheters are provided with distally localizing markers. The localizing markers are threaded into the small plastic spheres at the base of the H.A.M. The markers identify distal source positioning while simultaneously allowing for minor length adjustment of the internal lumen of the catheters.
