Needle Loading Shield, SeeDOS Code Number 90070

For radiation protection during loading of prostate implant needles

The Needle Loading Shield, SeeDOS Code 90070, is designed to provide superior operator shielding during the loading of prostate implant needles with iodine or palladium seeds.

NEW (February 2003) New Brachytherapy source measuring and handling systems pdf

 Constructed of 3/8" aluminium and 1/4" ( 0.56mm) Pb equivalent leaded glass.

When used with iodine seeds, 0.56mm Pb equivalent glass provides 22 half value layers of protection. Exposure is reduced significantly, for 100 iodine seeds at 1.0mCi per seed the exposure behind the glass is reduced to 1.6x10(-14) R/h. For 100 iodine seeds at 0.4mCi per seed, the exposure behind the glass is reduced to 6.4x10(-15) R/h.
